“Werewolves” is a film from 2024 directed by Steven C. Miller and revolves around the genres of action and horror. The focus shifts to supermoon occurrences which in the story effectively awakens a previously sleeping gene lying dormant in humans which when in contact with moonlight turns humans to werewolves. Due to this occurrence, all hell breaks loose and nearly one billion people across the globe are somehow made to suffer this fate. With a second supermoon on the horizon, the race against time begins for two scientists, Wesley Marshall played by Frank Grillo and Dr. Amy Chen played by Katrina Law to avert the second worst case scenario.

Critical Reception:

The film has drawn several adverse opinions. Critiques surround the viewing experience, where there is observance on how pratical effects such as animatronic werewolves are well carried out but lack proper overall execution of such. Instead, it has been suggested by John Serba of Decider to even avoid watching the film arguing that the lens flare and the lighting in the movie is too chaotic for a good viewing experience to be achievable.

In a report, the director of the film Steven C. Miller expressed the need to have Alec Gillis’ such expert who has previously worked for The Jim Henson Company and highlighted the use of practical effects which helped in the creation of the werewolves in the film. The film contains werewolves that are about 8-foot tall, having detailed animatronic heads, as intended to pursue and capture the horror of 80’s.
